HistoryFormed 7.27.43 in Berlin-Lichterfelde. The Korpstruppen were formed at Truppenübungsplatz Beverloo, and the Panzer-Abteilung was formed at Truppenübungsplatz Mailly le Camp. It served in Southern Russia during the Summer of 1943, in Belgium in early 1944, in Normandy against the Allied D-Day landings in June 1944, and in the withdrawal from France in late Summer and early Fall, 1944. In the Fall of 1944, the Korps was refit and placed under the command of the 6.SS-Panzer-Armee. It then took part in the Ardennes Offensive in December 1944.
