SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 1 “Oberbayern”

This Standarte was the first Totenkopf-Standarte to be formed, and was raised in 1937. In 1939, 2 of the units battalions were removed for service in the occupation of the Sudetenland. In the Fall of 1939, this unit was renamed as the SS-Totenkopf-Rekruten-Standarte. Under this title, the unit functioned to train new recruits and enlistees. This formation was then disbanded around January, 1941. The unit had a peak strength of 3,335 in April, 1938 and a low of 1,771 in February, 1938.
